
Dublin: Ireland have named their squad for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in England and Wales, with a 15-man squad featuring several first-time call-ups for the world tournament.
The squad includes Ava Canning, Christina Coulter Reilly, Alana Dalzell, Aimee Maguire and Lara McBride, all set to make their T20 World Cup debuts.
KP Lewis, KP Lewis was instrumental in helping Ireland qualify for their first T20 World Cup as captain.
Lewis finished as the highest run-scorer in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier with 276 runs from 7 matches.
He will be supported in the batting department by Leah Ball, Amy Hunter and Arla Prendergast, who form the core of Ireland’s top order.
Veteran campaigner and former captain Laura Delaney also features in the squad. Delaney, who led the team in the 2023 edition of the tournament, is on the verge of becoming the first Ireland Women’s player to take 100 T20 wickets.
The bowling attack was bolstered by Arlene Kelly, who was the second-highest wicket-taker in the Global Qualifiers earlier this year.
Ireland are in Group 2 alongside hosts England, Sri Lanka, Scotland, West Indies and defending champions New Zealand.
They open their campaign against Scotland at Old Trafford on June 13.
