Harare: India whitewashed Zimbabwe 3-0 in a comprehensive T20I series by 35 runs in the third and final match at the Harare Sports Club on Sunday.

Batting first, the visitors amassed 192-5 in their allotted 20 overs thanks to a brilliant innings by young opener Vaibhav Suriyavanshi and valuable contributions from Rinku Singh, Ishan Kishan and skipper Shreyas Iyer.

Suryavanshi scored 81 runs off 49 balls with 8 fours and 4 sixes. Kishan scored 29 off 26 balls with 4 fours while Iyer scored a brisk 27 off 18 balls including 2 fours.

Ringu Singh added 25 runs off 14 balls with 2 fours and a six, while Tilak Verma scored 11 runs off 9 balls with a four. Meanwhile, Abhishek Sharma was dismissed cheaply for 2 runs off 4 balls.

Brad Evans was the pick of Zimbabwe’s bowlers with figures of 2/41 from his four overs. Sikandar Raza, Blessing Musharbani and Wesley Mathevere took one wicket each.

In reply, Zimbabwe were restricted to 157-7 in their 20 overs after suffering early blows from skipper Sikandar Raza and opener Brian Bennett’s first-ball duck, despite a half-century from Ryan Burle.

Burl top-scored with 54 off 43 balls with 5 fours, while Mathewere scored 28 off 25 balls including a four and 2 sixes.

Ben Curran scored 20 runs off 19 balls with 2 fours, Dion Myers added 19 runs off 15 balls with a four and a six.

Mayank Yadav led India’s bowling with impressive figures of 3/29 from his four overs. Yash Thakur took 2 wickets and Ashok Sharma and Ravi Bishnoi took one wicket each.
