HARARE: Unbeaten India won the ICC Men’s Under-19 World Cup for the sixth time after beating England by 100 runs in the final at the Harare Sports Club on Friday.

Chasing a tough target of 412, England were bowled out for 311 in 40.2 overs as India’s disciplined bowling attack ensured a dominant win.

Opener Ben Dawkins scored 66 off 56 balls with 7 fours and 2 sixes, while Ben Mayes added 45 off 28 balls with 7 fours and 2 sixes.

Captain Thomas Reve scored 31 off 18 balls with 4 fours and a six.

England were then revived by a battling eighth-wicket partnership between Caleb Falconer and James Minto, who added 92 runs. Falconer scored a brave half-century during the stand.

With England struggling to 269-8 in 35.2 overs with 28 off 41 balls, the partnership was broken when Ambrish dismissed Minto.

Ambrish soon struck again, dismissing Manny Lumsden for three.

Caleb Falconer continued to fight hard and completed a magnificent century.

However, his resistance ended when Kanishk Chauhan dismissed him in a brilliant 115 off 67 balls that included nine fours and seven sixes, ending England’s chase.

Batting first, India were bowled out for 20 as opener Aaron George fell for 9 off 11 balls with 2 fours.

Suriyavanshi then joined captain Ayush Madre to launch a punishing attack on England’s bowlers.

The pair put on 142 runs together, with Madre contributing 53 runs off 51 balls, including 7 fours and 2 sixes, before Alex Green broke the partnership.

Suryavanshi was in superb form, hitting a well-deserved century in just 55 balls.

He scored 174 off 80 balls, with 15 fours and 15 sixes at a strike rate of 218.75 as India posted 251-3 in 25.3 overs.

The innings continued with Vedant Trivedi and Vihaan Malhotra, who added 32 and 30 runs respectively before being dismissed by James Minto.

Abhiyan Kundu scored 40 off 31 balls with 6 fours and a six before falling to Sebastian Morgan. RS Ambrish scored 18 off 24 balls before Minto was dismissed again.

India were 8 wickets down when Kilan Patel was bowled for 3 off four balls, giving Morgan his second wicket.

Henil Patel fell for five runs off seven balls and was run out by skipper Thomas Reve and Manny Lumston. Kanishk Chauhan remained unbeaten on 37 off 20 balls with 3 fours and a six.
