Kathmandu: The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) announced on Friday that India A will play a three-match T20I series in Nepal in December this year.
The tour was finalized after a meeting between CAN president Chatur Bahadur Chand, secretary Paras Khatka and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Devjit Saikia, its official X, earlier shared in a statement on its Twitter handle.
CAN further shared that the TU International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur will host all three matches of the historic series, scheduled to be held on December 9, 11 and 13 respectively.
“Nepal will host India A in a three-match T20 series at the TU International Cricket Stadium in Kirtipur,” wrote the CAN microblogging website.
“The series was confirmed following a meeting between CAN president Chatur Bahadur Chand, CAN secretary Paras Khatka and BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia during the ICC conference in Scotland.”
The series will be a major opportunity for Nepal after a spirited performance in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 in India and Sri Lanka, during which they defeated Scotland to register their first win at the prestigious event.
Although their victory over Canada was their only win in the 20-team tournament and the emerging Asian nation finished bottom of Group C with three points from four games, they were widely praised for their spirit.
Nepal backed up their encouraging performance at the mega event to further strengthen their credentials as one of the emerging teams in world cricket, especially in T20Is.
