Former Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim has announced that he has ended his 6-year marriage with Sania Ashbak and filed for divorce.

On social media platform Instagram, Imad shared a personal statement demanding privacy during the difficult period and urged fans and media to refrain from sharing old pictures of the couple.

“After much thought and due to many unresolved conflicts over the past few years, I have filed for divorce,” Imad wrote. “We kindly ask everyone to respect our privacy and refrain from using or sharing old couple photos.”

The 37-year-old asked people not to go ahead with Sania as his wife and warned against speculation or misinformation surrounding the matter.

“I request everyone not to indulge or believe in false stories. Any attempt to defame or implicate others in this personal matter will be dealt with through appropriate legal channels if necessary,” he said.

Imad addressed the situation of their children, reaffirming his responsibilities as a father.

“As for the children, I remain their father and will continue to take care of them fully and responsibly,” he added, concluding the statement by thanking supporters for their understanding and respect.

For the uninitiated, Imad Wasim and Sania Ashfaq got married in 2019 and share three children.

He scored 986 runs and took 44 wickets in ODIs, while amassing 554 runs and taking 73 wickets in the shorter format.

He announced his retirement from international cricket in December 2024 and is currently participating in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) season 12.
