Hobart: Hobart Hurricanes clinched the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) title with a comfortable 8-wicket win over Perth Scorchers at Bellerive Oval on Saturday.

Electing to bat first at the summit, the Scorchers managed to amass 137/5 in their allotted 20 overs as none of their batsmen were outplayed by much.

Captain Sophie Devine top-scored with 34 off 29 balls, followed by wicketkeeper Beth Mooney with 33, while Paige Scholfield made a significant contribution with a sizzling 27-run cameo at the back.

For the Hurricanes, Heather Graham and Lynsey Smith took two wickets and Lauren Smith took one.

Chasing a modest target of 138 to win, the Hurricanes cruised to victory with 2 wickets and 30 balls to spare.

Experienced opener Liselle Lee led the way for the home side with her unbeaten half-century. He top scored in the run chase with 77 off 44 balls with 10 fours and 4 sixes.

Lee was adjudged man of the match for his unbeaten half-century.

Lee was supported by fellow top-order batsmen Danny Wyatt-Hodge and Nat Skiver-Friend, who scored 16 and 35 respectively.

Lily Mills and Amy Edgar took a wicket each for the Scorchers.
