KARACHI: Pakistan’s veteran fast bowler Hasan Ali has admitted he is worried about the national team’s inability to play “good cricket” over the past three years, citing their struggles in multilateral matches and bilateral series against established opposition.
Hasan, who has represented Pakistan in 27 Tests, 68 ODIs and 57 T20Is, was asked to comment on the national team’s four successive defeats at the hands of Bangladesh during an interview with PakPassion.
Following the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, the defeat in the long format followed the ODI series defeat against the same opposition following the national team’s exit from the Super-Eight.
As a result, the Green Shirts have come under heavy criticism for their recent underperformance across all formats, and Hasan, who is currently representing Yorkshire at the Vitality Blast 2026, insists the team has not been able to play well since qualifying for the knockout stages of the T2021 World Cup respectively.
“Yes, we haven’t played good cricket in the last two-three years. Before that, I would say, we played some good cricket; we reached a couple of semi-finals and the final, but after that we didn’t play good cricket,” Hasan said during the interview.
“It’s a worrying thing for Pakistan, I’m worried, to be honest. There are a lot of people who think how can we make our team better, how can we make our players better to make a good team, win big matches and big series,” he added.
Pakistan’s next international is a two-match Test series against the West Indies scheduled from July 25 to August 7.
