KARACHI: On the opening day of the 2025-26 Round-3 President Trophy Grade-I 2025-26 match against Ghani Glass at the National Bank Stadium, fast bowler Mir Hamza played havoc to wreck the batting line-up of defending champions Pakistan Television (PTV).

Batting first, PTV were bowled out for 186 in 38.4 overs, with captain and opener Shamil Hussain scoring a fluent 68 off 76 balls that included 5 fours and 4 sixes.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Taimur Khan scored 24 off 45 balls with 3 fours, while the rest of the batting line-up failed to offer significant resistance.

Mir Hamza led the bowling with impressive figures of 5/55 in 14.4 overs. He was supported by Khurram Shahzad and Afaq Afridi with two wickets each and Ali Razak with a scalp.

In reply, Ghani Glass reached 109-5 in 31 overs, still 77 runs behind. Razak remained unbeaten on 12 off 32 balls while Yahya bin Abdul Rahman was unbeaten on 11 off 21 balls.

The Ghani class suffered an early setback as their top order collapsed. Sharjeel Khan was dismissed by Ammad Bhatt for 14 runs while Khawaja Arham fell to Israr Hussain for 8 runs.

Kashif Ali scored 27 runs, hitting four fours, before Ammad Bhatt became his second victim. Israr Hussain continued the damage with two more wickets, Mohsin Riaz was dismissed for 10 and Saad Naseem for 21.

Muhammad Ammar starred with an unbeaten century as Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) dominated against Sahir Associates in the next match of the tournament at the UBL Sports Complex.

Batting first, WAPDA were 307 for 6 in 83.4 overs at the end of the first day of the third innings, with Ammar leading the way with 140 off 264 balls including 22 fours.

The team suffered an early setback, losing 5 wickets for 70 runs in 22.3 overs. Openers Muhammad Imran and Muhammad Akhlaq were ducked out by Muhammad Bilawal and Khan Zeb respectively.

Sharoon Siraj scored 31 runs off 61 balls including 5 boundaries before being run out by Mohsin Khan. Ayaz Dasawar and Bismilla Khan were also dismissed for ducks, with Khan Jeb picking up both wickets.

Ammar was then joined by Khalid Usman and the pair rose to the occasion by stabilizing the innings, forming a 237-run partnership.

However, the day ended with Khalid breaking the stand after a hard-fought 93 off 174 balls with 8 fours and 2 sixes from Razaullah.

For Sahir Associates, Khan Zeb took 3 wickets for 70 runs in 20 overs while Mohammad Bilawal and Razaullah claimed one wicket each.

Azan Awais’ unbeaten run helped Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) stay in a comfortable position against State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) in another President’s Trophy clash at the State Bank Stadium.

Batting first, SNGPL posted 197-4 on the opening day thanks to an unbeaten century from opener Asan, who dominated with 103 off 242 balls with 13 fours and a six.

Shaun Masood Khan scored 35 runs off 72 balls including 5 fours and Umair Bin Yousuf scored 22 runs off 45 balls. Ali Zariab Asif was dismissed with 17 runs.

For SBP, Shahid Aziz took 2/54 in 20 overs while Mohammad Abbas and Qasim Akram picked up a wicket each.

Azan and Muhammad Ali will resume the innings on the second day, aiming to post a big total and put their opponents under pressure.

A concerted bowling effort by Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) helped Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGTCL) slip away with a modest total in the next round-three match at the National Bank of Pakistan Sports Complex.

Batting first, OGDCL were bowled out for 244 in 82.4 overs on the opening day, with exceptional bowling from KRL led by Muhammad Hamza, returning figures of 4/31 in 16.4 overs.

Ahmed Basheer also bowled well and took 3 wickets for 63 runs while Arshad Iqbal took 2 wickets.

For OGDCL, Danish Aziz batted smartly and scored 56 runs off 95 balls including 7 fours. Jawad Ali and Muhammad Sarwar scored 32 and 31 runs respectively.

Opener Umar Siddiqui Khan scored 28 runs off 57 balls with 5 fours and Muhammad Imran added 25 runs.

KRL will resume their first innings on day two, aiming to post a big total and push their opponents to a sizeable deficit.
