Basseterre: Alana King’s five-wicket haul and Phoebe Litchfield’s unbeaten half-century led Australia to a commanding nine-wicket victory over West Indies in the third ODI at Warner Park here on Thursday.

The win helped Australia sweep the three-match series as they recorded equally dominant wins in the first two ODIs, winning by 103 and 90 runs respectively.

West Indies captain Hayley Mathews opted to bat first as the home side managed to post 136 runs in 35.4 overs.

Middle-order batsman Chinelle Henry anchored his 54-ball 42 and skipper Mathews scored 34 off 48 balls with the help of three fours.

Apart from them, only Deandra Dottin (22) and Realiana Grimmond (20) scored double figures against an Australian bowling attack led by King, who took 5 for 19 from just 10 overs and was adjudged man of the match.

Ashley Gardner took two wickets to support King’s brilliance, while Lucy Hamilton, Nicola Carey and Tahlia McGrath chipped in with a scalp each.

In turn, with a target of 137 runs to win, the tourists easily chased down 182 balls for the loss of one wicket.

Leading the way for the visitors was left-arm opener Phoebe Litchfield, who scored a blistering 68 off 56 balls with 8 fours and a six.

Litchfield was supported by fellow opener Georgia Wall and experienced all-rounder Ellyse Perry, who made 23 and 33 not out respectively.

Ashmini Muniser was lone for West Indies as he dismissed Wall.
