LAHORE: Pakistan openers Faqar Zaman and Saim Ayub are not available for the three-match One-Day International (ODI) series against the Australian national cricket team.

The series will be played on May 30 in Rawalpindi and the remaining two matches on June 2 and June 4 in Lahore.

In a statement, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed that both players are currently recovering from their injuries and have been advised to continue their rehabilitation programs under the supervision of the PCB medical team.

As a result, both openers will not play in the ODI series against Australia.

The PCB wished both the players a speedy recovery and hoped to see them return to competitive cricket soon.

More updates on team and player fitness will be shared in due course.

Meanwhile, the Australian team is scheduled to arrive in Islamabad on May 23, while the Pakistani players will begin their training camp in Rawalpindi from May 22.

The upcoming bilateral ODI series will mark Australia’s first tour of Pakistan in the 50-over format since March and April 2022, with the Men in Green winning the series 2-1.

Earlier this year, Australia toured Pakistan for a three-match T20I series in January and February, where the hosts completed a 3-0 clean sweep at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.
