Cricket Australia has reportedly decided to convene a national summit amid growing concerns over the future of Australian batting and the development of the next generation of cricketers.

According to Australian media reports, Cricket Australia has become increasingly concerned about the constant struggles of most domestic batsmen, with concerns that the current playing conditions are not adequately preparing players for international cricket.

The national summit, expected to be held next month, will include representatives from Cricket Australia and various state cricket associations. The meeting will focus on developing strategies ahead of the upcoming Australian summer.

Reports suggest that another meeting involving pitch curators is likely to be held in July, where discussions will be held on batting failures and pitch preparation throughout domestic matches.

Australian media said state teams are now creating more favorable pitches for seam bowlers to boost results and earn points in domestic matches. However, such conditions are said to affect flour development.

Officials are concerned that batsmen continue to struggle on seam-friendly wickets, and the impact is ultimately carried over to international cricket.

Reports suggest that leaving too much grass on pitches results in less exposure of players to spin, while also affecting the development of quality spinners.

Australia are scheduled to play a five-match Test series in India later this year, and Cricket Australia will be hoping to face very different conditions from home.

The board is said to be concerned that the younger generation is not well prepared for overseas challenges, especially in sub-continental situations. There are also fears that Australia will face major difficulties once the current group of senior players retires.
