
Mirpur: Chris Woakes’ brilliant last-ball six in Round 2 of the 2025-26 Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Qualifiers saw them beat Rangpur Riders by three wickets at the Shere Bangla National Stadium on Tuesday.
Rangpur Riders, who batted first, were restricted to 111-9 in 20 overs by the excellent bowling of the Titans.
Mahmudullah top-scored for the Raiders with 33 off 26 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes while Khushdil Shah scored 30 off 19 balls with 3 sixes.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Nurul Hasan contributed 18 runs, while the rest of the line-up failed to contribute significantly.
Khalid Ahmed led the bowling for the Titans with impressive figures of 4/14 from four overs. Chris Woakes and Nasum Ahmed took 2 wickets each and Salman Irshad took one wicket.
Chasing 112, the Titans faced a tense battle, losing wickets at regular intervals before reaching the target in the last over, finishing on 112-7.
Sam Billings scored 29 off 40 balls, including a six, while Pervez Hossain Emon and captain Mehidi Hasan Miraz scored 18 each. Aribul Islam added 17 runs in total.
With nine runs needed off the final over, Faheem bowled two runs off the first ball, followed by two dot balls.
Moeen Ali was dismissed in the fourth ball with 7 runs needed off the last two balls.
Chris Woakes hit a last-ball six to seal the win and send Sylhet Titans into the final.
The winners of the eliminator, Sylhet Titans, will face the loser of Qualifier 1 in the second round of the tournament. The winning team in Qualifier 1 will directly advance to the finals.
