Southampton: Jos Buttler’s unbeaten century helped two-time champions England flip the record books on Saturday in the ongoing fifth T20I against India at the Rose Bowl.
Batting first, the home side, leading the five-match series 3-0, amassed 257/3 in 20 overs thanks to a mammoth second-wicket partnership between century-scoring Buttler and captain Harry Brook.
England’s 257/3 is their third highest score in men’s T20Is, behind 267/3 against West Indies in 2023 and 304/2 against South Africa last year.
Also, England’s 257/3 against three-time champions India is the biggest score conceded in the shortest format, the previous highest being 246/7 against the Three Lions in the Men’s T20 World Cup semi-final earlier this year.

Veteran wicketkeeper Batter Buttler scored 131 off 64 balls with 12 fours and 8 sixes.
Buttler’s 131 is now the highest individual score against India in men’s T20Is, beating the previous record of West Indies’ Evin Lewis, who scored an unbeaten 125 against the defending champions in 2017.
The former captain shared 233 runs with his successor, Harry Brook, who scored 95 off 45 balls, with eight sixes and four fours.
Their monumental partnership is the second-highest for any wicket in a men’s T20I involving full member nations behind the 236 between Afghanistan’s Usman Ghani and Hazratullah Jazai against Ireland in 2019.
