KARACHI: The Bangladesh men’s cricket team has replaced Scotland in the squad for the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup mega event in India, international media reported on Saturday.

The report added that the International Cricket Council (ICC) sent an email to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (PCB) on Friday evening after the PCB said that the Bangladesh government had not given them permission to travel to India for the tournament, which is scheduled to begin on February 7.

Citing communications with the ICC on Thursday, the report said the PCB intends to take the issue to the ICC’s Dispute Resolution Committee (DRC).

The clash erupted after Indian Premier League (IPL) owner Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) dropped veteran Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman from their squad on the orders of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), citing security reasons, when the PCB formally requested the apex body to relocate.

The two sides then engaged in several talks, but a solution was not reached, and earlier this week the ICC issued a 24-hour ultimatum, formally announcing that it would reject BCB’s petition, saying the schedule of the match would remain intact.

Bangladesh, drawn in Group C, are scheduled to play their first three group matches in Kolkata against West Indies on February 7, Italy on February 9 and England on February 14 before concluding the group stage against Nepal in Mumbai on February 17.

Amid the ongoing ICC-PCB tussle, 2009 champions Pakistan may also boycott the 2026 T20 World Cup if Bangladesh opts out, sources said on Thursday.
