Mirpur: Bangladesh have announced their squads for the T20I series against Australia and the one-off Test against Zimbabwe, with several notable additions and rotation changes across formats.
Pacers Taskin Ahmed and Nahid Rana have been recalled to the T20I squad after being rested in Bangladesh’s previous series against New Zealand in April.
They have returned at the expense of seamer Ripon Mondol and seam-bowling all-rounder Mohammad Saibuddin as the selectors opted to strengthen the first-choice pace attack.
Rana has played only one T20 to date against the United Arab Emirates in May last year, while Taskin’s most recent appearance was against Zimbabwe in October 2025.
The pace department also includes Abdul Ghaffar Saqlain, who was earlier part of the squad against New Zealand but did not feature in any of the matches during the series.
In the Test set-up, Bangladesh have made four changes, including the addition of Towhid Hridoy.
Despite his limited experience in first-class cricket, Hridoi has been rewarded for his aggressive batting approach, having already played 52 ODIs and 59 T20Is since his international debut in 2023. He has also scored three hundreds in 16 first-class matches.
Chief selector Habibul Bashar said Hridoi was picked to add more scope to the middle order. Meanwhile, veterans Mehidi Hasan Miraz, Shoriful Islam, Taskin Ahmed and Nahid Rana have been retired as part of the rotation policy.
Medium pacer Robiul Haq has also been included and the pacer, who has 107 wickets and 620 runs in 32 first-class matches, is being considered for development as an all-rounder. Khaled Ahmed has also been recalled to the Test squad.
Bangladesh will play a 3-match T20I series against Australia on June 17, 19 and 21 in Chattogram. The Test team is scheduled to leave for Harare on June 23, with only one Test starting on June 28.
