Windhoek: Australia and West Indies wrapped up their ICC Men’s U19 World Cup Super Six campaigns on Sunday against South Africa and West Indies at the Namibia Cricket Stadium and High Performance Oval respectively.

In the match between South Africa and Australia, the Aussies dominated and remained unbeaten in the match by registering a six-wicket win in a low-scoring encounter.

Batting first, South Africa were bowled out for 118 runs in 32.1 overs by Australia’s superb bowling.

Middle-order batsman Paul James scored 34 runs off 60 balls, including a four and a six.

Opener Jorich van Schalkwyk scored 26 off 55 balls with 3 fours, while other players failed to make any significant contribution.

Charles Lachman starred with figures of 3/29 in seven overs. Will Byrom and Aryan Sharma took 2 wickets each and Hayden Schiller and Casey Barton took one wicket each.

In response, the Australian team reached the target by losing 4 wickets in 32.5 overs. Steven Hogan scored a top score of 43 off 73 balls including 5 fours.

Wicketkeeper-batter Alex Lee Young and Jaden Draper remained unbeaten on 22, while opener Nitesh Samuel added 16 runs.

For South Africa, JJ Basson took 3/41 in 10 overs, while Payanda Majola picked up a wicket.

In the next match, rain interrupted Ireland’s chase and gave the West Indies a 25-run victory.

Batting first, the Caribbean team were bowled out for 226 runs in 46.5 overs. Jewel Andrew scored a top score of 66 off 82 balls with 4 fours and 4 sixes.

Jonathan van Lange and wicketkeeper-batsman Audien Racha scored 28 each, while opener Thanes Francis added 19 off 20 balls.

For Ireland, Reuben Wilson led the bowling with figures of 3/50 in 8.5 overs. James West and Luke Murray took 2 wickets each and Oliver Riley and Thomas Ford took 1 wicket each.

Chasing 227 runs, Ireland’s innings collapsed to 164 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 40 overs. The DLS system favored the West Indies, who were 25 runs ahead thanks to Ireland’s slow scoring.

Ireland opener James West scored a top score of 45 off 55 balls including 8 fours. Rob O’Brien scored 26 off 50 balls and Marco Bates 22 off 28 balls.

Micah McKenzie bowled well for West Indies with 4/36 in 10 overs. Vittal Laws took two wickets and Adhiyan Racha took one more wicket.
