Cardiff: Georgia Wall’s unbeaten half-century led Australia to a six-wicket victory over the West Indies in their 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup warm-up match at the Sophia Gardens on Wednesday.
The backlash came as West Indies skipper Hayley Mathews, who batted first, could muster 131 runs in 20 overs before being all out.
Middle-order batsman Deandra Dottin was the standout for the West Indies as he scored 46 off 38 balls anchored by six fours.
Apart from him, Jahsara Claxton, Mathews, 15 each, top-order batsman Alia Allen (10) can accumulate double figures.
Ashleigh Gardner and Lucy Hamilton combined to lead Australia’s bowling with two wickets each, while Georgia Wareham, Nicola Carey, Sophie Molyneux, Elise Perry and Kim Garth claimed a scalp each.
In turn, Australia chased down the target of 132 runs with just 4 wickets and 30 balls to spare.
Leading them was right-handed opener Wall, who scored an unbeaten 77 off 48 balls with 10 fours and 2 sixes.
He quickly shared a 48-run partnership with fellow opener Beth Mooney, who was retired at the end of the batting powerplay after scoring 34 off 18 balls with three fours and a six.
On the West Indies side, Gianna Joseph, Karisma Ramharak and Captain Mathews can take one wicket each.
For the unbeaten, Australia will enter the Women’s T20 World Cup, scheduled to begin on June 12, having won each of their two warm-up matches as they first defeated hosts England in their first warm-up match.
