Leeds: Australia cruised to a dominant nine-wicket victory over Bangladesh in their Group A encounter at Headingley in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 on Wednesday, registering their second win of the tournament.

Chasing a modest target of 78, Australia crossed the mark in just 9.3 overs as opener Georgia Wall scored an unbeaten 45 off 32 balls with six fours and a six.

Beth Mooney was the only one dismissed for 10 runs as Marufa Akhter got Bangladesh’s only breakthrough. Ellis Perry scored 19 off 15 balls with 2 fours.

Earlier, Bangladesh were restricted to 77-8 after a decent bowling performance by Australia. The Tigers struggled to form partnerships and found it difficult to deal with the relentless Australian attack.

Captain Nigar Sultana scored 27 runs off 47 balls and Ritu Moni scored 16 runs off 26 balls. However, the rest of the batting line-up could not make a significant contribution.

Juwairia Ferdez scored eight runs after her half-century in the opener, while Dilara Akhter ducked out.

Sharmin Akhtar added five runs while Sobana Mostari and Shorna Akhtar managed four and zero respectively. Rabeya Khan remained unbeaten with 8, Nahida Akhtar and Sultana Khatun with two and zero.

Kim Garth, Sophie Molyneux and Ellis Perry took 2 wickets each for Australia’s bowling. Annabelle Sutherland and Georgia Wareham took one wicket each.

The Kangaroos next face the Netherlands in Southampton on June 20, while Bangladesh take on Pakistan at the same venue.
