LONDON: Controlled bowling and an unbeaten half-century by Beth Mooney led Australia to an easy eight-wicket victory over the West Indies in the first semi-final of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 at The Oval on Tuesday.

With the win, six-time champions Australia entered the final of the 12-team mega event where they will face either South Africa or hosts England at Lord’s here on Sunday.

Australian captain Sophie Molyneux opted to field first and despite Deandra Todd’s late blitz, the West Indies reeled off a modest total of 125/7 in 20 overs.

Captain Hayley Mathews scored 30 runs off 28 balls in the West Indies team. He shared a 47-run partnership with fellow opener Gianna Joseph, who scored 16 off 22 balls.

Following their back-to-back dismissals, top-order batsman Shemain Campbell (22) took charge of West Indies’ batting in the middle stages and single-handedly ticked the scoreboard until he fell to Georgia Wareham in the 16th over.

His dismissal allowed Tatin, who suffered an injury before the start of the knockout tournament, to depart at No.8 and blast West Indies’ 26, hitting 4 fours off just 16 balls.

For Australia, Ashleigh Gardner, Wareham and captain Molineux took 2 wickets each and Annabelle Sutherland took a scalp.

In reply, Australia chased down the target of 126 runs with the loss of just 2 wickets and 42 balls to spare.

Six-time champion left-arm opener Mooney scored an unbeaten 61 off 36 balls with eight fours.

He also shared a 63-run partnership with Gardner, who scored an unbeaten 35 off 20 balls with 4 fours and a six.

Cinelle Henry and captain Mathews were the only wickets taken each for former champions West Indies from the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup.
