LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday released the 10th and final bid for the much-anticipated bid for the two new Pakistan Super League (PSL) teams to be held on January 8 at the Jinnah Convention in Islamabad.
The cricket board made the announcement through its official social media handles: “Bidders line-up (New Era) is complete. FKS joins auction (10) on auction day 8 January 2026.”
PSL expands from six to eight teams after PCB completes technical evaluations of proposals submitted by interested parties.
Successful bidders will have the opportunity to select their home city from a PCB-approved list, which includes Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Hyderabad, Sialkot, Muzaffarabad and Gilgit.
Pakistan’s legendary fast bowler Wasim Akram, who was appointed as the brand ambassador for the 11th edition of the marquee league to be held last month, is working on organizing key aspects of the auction, PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi confirmed.
“The best thing for PSL and the PSL brand is that Wasim Akram has been appointed as the brand ambassador. He will officially take over this role from January 1,” said Naqvi.
“Not only that, he also organizes key aspects of the auction. There will be an international auctioneer and Wasim Akram will also be actively involved.”
The left-arm speedster has been a key figure in the PSL over the years, serving as the president of the Karachi Kings franchise since late 2018.
In this role, he acted as a senior advisor and interim coach, guiding the team to its first PSL title in 2020 following the tragic tenure of head coach Dean Jones.
