
Leeds: Yorkshire beat Leicestershire by 41 runs in the Vitality Blast 2026 at Headingley on Sunday.
Asked to chase down a tough target of 208, Leicestershire were never able to generate sustained momentum and ended up at 166-9 in their 20 overs.
Wicketkeeper Ben Cox provided strong opposition with a 34-ball 47 with four fours and a six. Opener Rishi Patel gave the visitors a brilliant start with a 14-ball 34 including 2 fours and 4 sixes.
Rehan Ahmed added 30 runs off 25 balls with 3 fours and a six while captain Ben Green scored 20 runs off 20 balls with 2 fours.
Hasan led Yorkshire’s bowling attack with impressive figures of 4/25, while Andrew Tye matched his tally with four wickets of his own. Mathew Revis also picked up a wicket to cap off a brilliant all-round performance.
Earlier, Yorkshire had amassed 207-4 after being sent in to bat, mostly due to Lyth’s sensational 63-ball 131 not out.
The opener dominated the innings with 16 fours and six towering sixes, anchoring his side to a mammoth total.
Captain Jonny Bairstow provided valuable support with a 30-ball 28 including 4 fours and a six. Revis chipped in with 13 while Moeen Ali chipped in with 10. William Luxton and Tye remained unbeaten with two runs each.
For Leicestershire, Rehan Ahmed was the standout bowler with 3/33 from four overs, with Josh Davey picking up a wicket.
