Harare: Zimbabwe Cricket has confirmed that Australia will tour the country for a three-match One Day International (ODI) series this September, following the previously announced domestic T20I series against newly crowned T20 World Cup champions India in July.

The ODI series will begin on September 15, while the remaining matches are scheduled for September 18 and 20. All matches will start at 09:30 local time at the Harare Sports Club.

The tour is of particular significance as it marks Australia’s first ODI visit to Zimbabwe in ten years. The two teams last met South Africa in the 50-over format on Zimbabwean soil during the tri-series in August and September 2014.

For the hosts, the series marks an important part of their preparations for the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, a major tournament Zimbabwe is set to host alongside South Africa and Namibia.

Zimbabwe Cricket Managing Director Kivmore Makoni expressed his excitement, highlighting the importance of the series to the team’s development.

“We are delighted to welcome Australia back to Zimbabwe for what will be a very competitive ODI series,” Makoni said.

“These talent matches are vital to our development as a team. With the ICC Men’s World Cup 2027 on the horizon, this tour provides invaluable preparation for the upcoming matches alongside South Africa and Namibia.”

Makoni also welcomed the opportunity to bring high quality international cricket to local fans.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for our fans to experience top level international cricket locally and we look forward to strong support at Harare Sports Club,” he added.

ODI Series Schedule:
