BANGKOK: United Arab Emirates (UAE) defeated India A by 7 wickets in the second match of the ACC Women’s T20 Asia Cup Rising Stars Championship.
India A skipper Radha Yadav’s decision to bat first was backfired as they could score 130/9 in 20 overs.
Middle-order batsman Anushka Sharma remained cautious with 47 off 45 balls with 7 fours to top the score, followed by lower-order batsman Tanuja Kanwar’s 34 off 25 balls.
Apart from them, right-handed opener Dinesh Vrinda was the only one to reach double figures with 16 off 13 balls.
Samaira Darnidharka was the best bowler for UAE with 3 wickets for 40 runs in her four overs, Vaishnave Mahesh and skipper Osa took two wickets each and Suraksha Kotte and Adhee Silva took one wicket each.
Chasing 131 runs, the UAE easily hit the winning runs with three wickets and 4 balls to spare thanks to a half-century from their skipper Osa.
Oza oversaw UAE’s chase with an unbeaten 72 off 61 balls, including 10 fours and two sixes.
Oza was adjudged man of the match for his unbeaten half-century and two wickets.
He was amply supported by fellow top-order batsman Samaira Dharnidarka, who anchored her 34 off 31 balls with the help of 3 fours and a six. The duo shared a 71-run partnership for the second wicket.
On the Indian side, Prema Rawat, Yadav and Kanwar can take one wicket each.
The seven-wicket win saw the UAE Women’s Asia Cup Rising Stars finish second on points in the Group A standings of the Championship, behind Pakistan due to their low net run rate.
