
KARACHI: Former Australian captain Tim Paine, who has been appointed as the head coach of PSL’s new owner Sialkot Stallions, has expressed his excitement about joining the team ahead of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 scheduled to be played from March 26 to May 3.
In a video shared on the Stallions’ official social media handle, Payne reflected on the prospect of leading a new team in the league.
“To everyone, Tim Bain is here. I’m really excited to be involved with Sialkot Stallionz for this year’s PSL. It’s going to be a big challenge to build a brand new franchise and build something from the ground up – and I can’t wait to get involved,” he said.
The 42-year-old also spoke about his appreciation for the competition and the competitive quality of cricket in Pakistan.
“Excited to be coming to the PSL! It’s a tournament I’ve watched for a few years now. Always impressed with the talent, level of cricket and passion of the fans. I can’t wait to get stuck in with the Stallions,” Paine added.
He also teased upcoming announcements regarding both the franchise and the league.
“Keep an eye on our social media today – big announcements coming not only from the Stallions but also from the PSL. Massive news coming and I can’t wait to get out there and be involved. See you all soon,” he concluded.
Paine, who was appointed on January 29, brings a wealth of experience having represented Australia in 35 Tests and 35 ODIs while also captaining the national side in the longest format.
Sialkot Stallionz is owned by Hamza Majeed-led OZ Developers, who acquired the franchise during a star-studded auction held at the Jinnah Convention Center on January 8.
FKS Group Rs. After securing the first rights with an offer of 1.75 billion ($6.25 million), OZ Developers bid for the second team at Rs. They won with 1.85 billion.
This marks the second biggest expansion in PSL history. Multan Sultans were the first team to be added for the third season, increasing the league from five to six teams.
With PSL 11, two additional franchises were introduced, bringing the total number of teams to eight.
Meanwhile, the player auction for the much-awaited PSL 11th edition is scheduled to take place on February 11.
