Cricket West Indies (CWI) has confirmed that all players and members of the Team Management Unit (TMU) in the West Indies men’s squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 have returned home safely following post-match travel disruptions.

In an official statement issued on Saturday, the final batch of CWI soldiers and support personnel have completed their journeys over the past several days and have now reached their respective destinations safely.

Earlier this week, the West Indies team started leaving India on commercial flights.

West Indies were stranded in Kolkata for nine days after crashing out of the tournament following their Super Eight loss to champions India at the Eden Gardens on March 1.

According to the CWI, the continued delays in arranging the charter trip created a “distressing” situation for the players and staff.

Prioritizing the well-being of the team, the CWI informed the ICC that it was “no longer prudent” to continue waiting for chartered flights.

The Board later organized a business trip for the players and support staff in collaboration with the ICC, Regional Cricket Boards and other stakeholders.

By the time the media release was issued earlier this week, several members of the team had already left, with the rest of the batch traveling in the following days.

The CWI thanked the ICC and other stakeholders for facilitating the team’s safe return, while thanking the West Indies supporters and the wider cricket community for their concern and well-wishes.

“The well-being and safety of our players and staff is paramount and we are grateful that this matter has now been brought to a safe and satisfactory conclusion,” the statement added.
