Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) on Wednesday announced the schedule for India’s upcoming tour, which will see the world champions play a three-match T20I series in Harare this July.

All matches will be staged at the Harare Sports Club, kicking off at 1pm local time. The series marks India’s first visit to Zimbabwe since July 2024, when the two teams played five T20Is.

The announcement comes on the heels of Zimbabwe’s confirmation that they will tour India for three one-day internationals in January 2027 – their first bilateral series in the country since 2002.

India and Zimbabwe last met in the Super Eight stage of the T20 World Cup where India posted 256 for 4 in Chennai to win by 72 runs.

Zimbabwe Managing Director of Cricket Kivmore Makoni highlighted the importance of the upcoming series against India, describing it as an important opportunity for the players and supporters.

He noted that tournaments involving India continue to garner global attention, making the tournament even more valuable for Zimbabwe’s team.

According to Makoni, facing the world champions at home will provide an important test of the team’s capabilities and allow the players to measure themselves against the strongest teams in international cricket.

“The matches against India always generate a lot of interest and this is a fantastic opportunity for our players to test themselves against the world champions at home,” he said.

Reflecting on recent progress, Makoni pointed out that Zimbabwe’s encouraging displays at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup have laid a positive foundation.

“Following our encouraging performances at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, this series provides a strong platform to continue to grow and build momentum as a competitive force in international cricket.”

Makoni expressed his excitement over Zimbabwe’s return to India for a bilateral ODI series, saying it was a historic milestone after more than two decades.

He underlined that touring India, widely regarded as the premier destination for world cricket, was an honor and a valuable learning experience for the players.

“It is a momentous moment for Zimbabwe to tour India again for a bilateral ODI series after more than two decades,” he said.

“India is one of the premier destinations in world cricket and this tour represents an honor and a valuable opportunity for our players.

“We look forward to competitive and high-quality cricket and we believe this engagement will further strengthen the relationship between the two cricketing nations while also providing invaluable exposure to our team.”
