CHENNAI: Syedeja Mukkamalla’s half-century and Harmeet Singh’s four-wicket haul helped United States (USA) to a resounding 93-run win over Netherlands in the 21st match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Friday.
Chasing a target of 197 runs, the Netherlands scored only 103 runs in 15.5 overs.
Netherlands all-rounder Baz de Leete continued to top the order with 23 off 17 balls, followed by captain Scott Edwards’ 20 off 14 balls, while Max O’Dowd (13) and Rolof van der Merwe (10) added double figures.
Singh took 4 wickets for just 21 runs in his four overs and Shadley van Schalkwyk bagged three wickets and was the standout bowler for the USA. Mohamed Mohsin scored 2 runs and Nostush Kenjike scored one.
Netherlands opener Scott Edwards’ decision backfired as USA piled up 196/6 in 20 overs.
The USA began to unravel their innings when opener Shayan Jahangir (20) fell to Kyle Klein in the final delivery of the third over, with just 27 runs.
Following an early stumble, Mukkamalla joined captain Monak Patel in the middle for a 45-run partnership for the second wicket, which saw the former dismissed in the ninth over.
Patel was dismissed by pace de leade’s slow bowling and departed after scoring 36 off 22 balls with 3 fours and a six.
USA suffered another setback as Sanjay Krishnamurthy (one) was dismissed off 11 balls by Fred Klassen, reducing them to 105/3 in 11 overs.
Mukhamalla shared a crucial 54-run partnership with Shubham Ranjane for the fourth wicket before eventually succumbing to De Leede, who led the Netherlands’ bowling with sensational figures of 3/37 from his four overs.
Saideja Mukkamalla remained the top scorer for USA with 79 off 51 balls with 5 fours and 4 sixes.
Following his departure, Ranjane took control of America’s batting campaign and ensured a strong finish by adding valuable runs at the back end despite losing partners at the other end. He scored an unbeaten 48 off 24 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes.
In addition to de Leed, Logan van Beek, Klaassen and Klein could take a wicket each for the Netherlands team.
