
Kandy: The Pakistan men’s cricket team arrived here on Sunday for the remaining two ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Super Eight matches against England and Sri Lanka.
According to details, the 2009 champions, whose first Super Eight match against New Zealand was washed out by incessant rain on Saturday, arrived here on Sunday evening after starting a three-hour road journey from Colombo.
Upon arrival, the team will rest today and have a three-hour practice session at the Ballekala International Cricket Stadium here on Monday afternoon as they play their first T20 World Cup 2026 match when they face England on Tuesday.
Following the England clash, Pakistan will face co-hosts Sri Lanka at the same venue on February 28 and will be hoping to win the remaining two Super Eight matches to qualify for the semi-finals.
The top two teams in each group will qualify for the semi-finals on March 4 and 5, respectively, following the conclusion of the Super Eight rounds.
As Pakistan will play all their T20 World Cup 2026 matches in Sri Lanka according to the ‘Fusion Formula’, the first semi-final will be played at the R Premadasa Stadium here, subject to their eligibility, otherwise at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
Similarly, the venue of the summit meeting to be held on March 8 is under Pakistan’s jurisdiction.
