Ahead of the historic 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) from March 26 to May 3, star England pacer Tymal Mills has signed a direct contract with Peshawar Zalmi.
The franchise announced the signing on its official social media account: “The Storm have just tied. We welcome England express pacer Tymal Mills to the Yellow Storm.”
Mills has made his second direct signing for Peshawar Zalmi this season. First, Australian all-rounder Aaron Hardy replaced Afghanistan wicketkeeper-batsman Rahmanullah Gurbaz after the wicketkeeper-batsman withdrew from the match.
The left-arm fast bowler was earlier part of Peshawar Zalmi’s squad in the third edition of the PSL, where he played five matches and picked up seven wickets at an economy rate of 7.21.
Overall, Mills has played 30 PSL matches, taking 37 wickets at an economy rate of 8.41, appearing for Islamabad United in the last two editions.
Meanwhile, Peshawar Zalmi also retained key players from their previous team.
Captain Babar Azam was retained for PKR 70 million in Platinum category, Subian Mukeem in Diamond (PKR 44.8 million), Abdul Samad in Gold (PKR 28 million) and Ali Raza in Emerging category (PKR 19.6 million).
The much-anticipated PSL 11 player auction, which replaced the traditional draft system in the league’s history, was held at the Expo Center earlier this month, with all eight franchises finalizing their squads.
Peshawar strengthened their core with key acquisitions including Zalmi, Michael Bracewell and Gusal Mendis for PKR 42 million each, while James Vince and Mohammed Harris improved their batting.
Amir Jamal and Khurram Shahzad were added to strengthen the pace attack.
