
KARACHI: Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) on Sunday gave a grand welcome to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and other officials.
According to PCB, the reception was held in Colombo and was attended by many dignitaries.
The next day, Naqvi, along with PCB COO Sumair Ahmed and Pakistan Super League (PSL) CEO Salman Naseer, reached Colombo to watch the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 match at the R Premadasa Stadium on Sunday.
Naqvi Sri Lanka’s Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Sunil Kumar Gamage hosted a traditional drumming and dance performance at the team hotel here.
Following his arrival here, the PCB chief held an important meeting with the national men’s cricket team earlier today.
Earlier this week, sources told Geo News that Naqvi and International Cricket Council (ICC) president Jay Shah will watch the India-Pakistan T20 World Cup 2026 clash together.
Officials from the ICC are expected to be at the ground along with representatives from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Officials from PCB and BCCI will reportedly share the same venue, while Sri Lanka Cricket has confirmed that guests from other cricket boards will also attend the match.
Both teams enter the blockbuster clash unbeaten in the group stage. Pakistan won against Netherlands and USA while India beat USA and Namibia.
The stage is set for another thrilling encounter between the arch-rivals.
Historically, India and Pakistan have faced each other 16 times in T20 Internationals, with India winning 13 and Pakistan winning three.
In the history of the T20 World Cup, India have a 7-1 lead in the eight times the two teams have met.
