KARACHI: New entrants Sialkot Stallions on Thursday announced the inclusion of three domestic cricketers in their squad for Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 scheduled to be played from March 26 to May 3.

The Stallions, in a statement, announced the signing of national cricketers Mohammad Shahzad, Arshad Iqbal and Nisar Khan for Rs 6 million each to expand their squad to 19 players.

“Sialkot Stallions have added Mohammad Shehzad, Arshad Iqbal and Nisar Khan to their squad. All three players have signed a contract worth PKR 6 million each and will represent Sialkot Stallions in the upcoming season,” Stallionz said in a statement.

“The addition of these players will further strengthen the team’s batting and bowling departments. Following these new signings, the Sialkot Stallions squad for the HBL PSL now consists of 19 players.”

The next day there was a development, the first ever PSL player auction, during which the Stallions picked up 11 players including Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan, Australia’s Ashton Turner and Peter Siddle and South Africa’s Tabriz Shamsi.

Following a star-studded auction that saw a total of 103 players sold, batting all-rounder Shahzad expressed his disappointment at failing to attract a partner despite consistent performances in the domestic circuit and international tournaments, including the ACC Men’s Asia Cup Rising Stars Championship.

“Hey, hope (you) all are well, 10 months ago I was man of the match in the President’s Cup. I was the second highest wicket taker in the Hong Kong Super Sixes tournament and was part of the emerging Asia Cup winning team, (but) unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to play,” Shahzad posted on his Instagram story.

“Now I’m unsold in the PSL auction. I can’t fit 100 players? Really?”
