LAHORE: Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Salman Naseer has officially confirmed the squads and venue for the opening match of the historic 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) to be held from March 26 to May 3.
Speaking to reporters, Naseer informed that defending champions Lahore Qalandars will meet tournament openers Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen in Lahore and the opening ceremony will be held ahead of the clash.
He informed that most of the first leg of the tournament will be played in Lahore and the official schedule will be announced soon.
Recently, reports surfaced that the final of PSL 11 might be held outside Pakistan, giving overseas fans a chance to experience it.
When asked about the possibility of hosting a tournament abroad, Naseer addressed the matter, stressing that expansion of the league globally is being carefully considered.
“The schedule will be announced later this week so everything will be clear. But of course, this is an issue under consideration – our overseas Pakistanis also want to enjoy and enjoy the PSL,” Naseer said.
“Now,Now, as we are becoming a global league, we have to take at least one match overseas. Whether it will happen this year or next year, you will get clarity this weekend,” he added.
On the possibility of hosting PSL matches in Peshawar, Naseer raised concerns about the stadium’s readiness and the league’s plans for the city.
He explained that the league management conducted a site visit to assess the ground conditions before taking any decision.
“Our team went to the Peshawar stadium and found that some things, including the ground conditions, were not up to the mark. That’s why we shifted the National T20 Cup. Our effort is to take the PSL to Peshawar. Everything will be cleared by the end of this week,” he said.
