LAHORE: Hyderabad Kingsmen opener Saim Ayub on Wednesday added another feather to his cap in Pakistan Super League (PSL) history.
Ayub reached the milestone when he hit Shehzad Gul for a boundary off the first delivery of the innings during the Kingsmen’s third PSL 11 match against 2021 champions Multan Sultans at the Gaddafi Stadium here.
The result made the 23-year-old the 28th batsman in the marquee league to break the thousand-run barrier, joining the likes of Babar Azam, Shoaib Malik and Sarbaraz Ahmed.
Although Chime was the first Kingsmen’s batsman to reach the milestone, he scored the most runs (860) for Peshawar Zalmi, whom he represented in three seasons from 2023 to 2025.
He made his PSL debut with the Gladiators in the 2021 edition, during which he amassed 114 runs in seven innings at a poor average of 16.28 and a strike rate of 108.57.
Ayub also has 14 PSL wickets to his name, which comes at a decent bowling average of 30.42 and an economy rate of 7.88.
At the time of filing this story, the left-arm opener was unbeaten with 13 runs, taking his PSL tally to 1012 in the 44th match of his marquee league career.
His all-round skills made him the most expensive local player in league history as he was signed outright by the Kingsmen for Rs 126 million ahead of the first player auction last month.
However, Saim Ayub has yet to justify his price tag as he scored 17 in the Kingsmen’s campaign opener against Lahore Qalandars, while he scored 8 against Quetta Gladiators.
