KARACHI: Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan has been named the ICC Player of the Month for February 2026 following an exceptional campaign at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Sri Lanka.

Farhan amassed 383 runs in seven matches (six innings) at an impressive average of 76.60 and finished as the tournament’s highest run-scorer. His tally included two centuries and two half-centuries.

The hard-hitting right-hander smashed 160.25 runs at the global event and broke Virat Kohli’s long-standing record for most runs in a single edition of the T20 World Cup.

This is Farhan’s first monthly ICC award; He is the first male Pakistani player to achieve this honor since fast bowler Haris Rauf in November 2024.

“It’s an incredible feeling to win this ICC award, especially at the World Cup stage, where fans from all over the world are watching every second of the show. It’s even better,” he said.

“This is truly a tournament that I will always cherish and I am determined to carry this momentum forward in the series and tournaments. I am very grateful to my teammates for their constant support and belief in me – without them this would not have been possible.”

Farhan became the first batsman to score two centuries (against Namibia and Sri Lanka) in the same global event in the short format.

His performances saw him climb to a new career high in the latest ICC Men’s T20I Batting Rankings, moving up to second place after a stunning century against Sri Lanka at Ballekele.

He shared the highest 176 runs for any wicket in T20Is with Fakhar Zaman. Despite that effort and a five-run win against the co-hosts, Pakistan failed to reach the semi-final stage, losing on net run rate.

In recognition of his memorable run, the 29-year-old was named in the ICC Team of the Tournament, posting scores of 47, 73, 0, 100*, not out, 63 and 100 in seven matches.
