LAHORE: Following injuries to key fast bowlers Naseem Shah and Zaman Khan, the Rawalpindi have strengthened their bowling line-up by signing New Zealand pacer Ben Sears.
Sears, who was signed for PKR 2.50 crore, is currently in Sri Lanka with New Zealand A but is expected to join the Bindis tomorrow subject to the necessary clearances.
His arrival marks his PSL debut, with the right-arm pacer bringing limited franchise league experience from his previous stint in Major League Cricket (MLC) with the Washington Freedom.
At the international level, he has played 27 T20Is for the Blackcaps, taking 31 wickets and taking ten scalps in four ODIs.
The deal comes in direct response to injuries suffered by two of Rawalpindi’s leading bowlers. Despite being sidelined, Naseem Shah remains a part of the team.
The young fast bowler is scheduled to undergo further medical tests on April 15 to know how far he has recovered.
In a separate statement, the team management confirmed that Shah has been sidelined for the foreseeable future after sustaining a side injury during the team’s recent clash against Karachi Kings.
The medical staff is closely monitoring his rehabilitation and, subject to fitness clearance and recovery progress, is targeting a return by the end of the tournament.
Zaman Khan suffered a dislocation of the acromioclavicular (ACJ) joint in his right shoulder while fielding for Faisalabad against Peshawar in the 2026 National T20 Cup and has been replaced by Jalat Khan.
For the uninitiated, Mohammad Rizwan-led Rawalpindis are scheduled to play their next PSL match against Quetta Gladiators on April 10.
