
KARACHI: Peshawar Zalmi registered their fourth straight win as they beat defending champions Lahore Qalandars by 76 runs in the 11th match of the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) at the National Bank Stadium.
With his third win in a row, Zalmi has moved to the top of the points table.
The Babar Azam-led side now have four wins from five matches, including a wash-out fixture, to take them to nine points with a net run rate of 3.103.
Zalmi’s rise has relegated Multan Sultans to second place. Sultans have four wins and one loss from five matches, scoring eight points with a net run rate of 0.941.
Islamabad United are third with three wins, one loss and one draw. They have accumulated seven points and maintain a strong net run rate of 2.052.
Karachi Kings sit fourth with six points from three wins and one loss, though their net run rate stands at negative -1.639.

Meanwhile, Lahore Qalandars, now sixth in the table with two wins and three losses from five matches, suffered a heavy defeat against Zalmi after being bowled out for 97 in 17 overs while chasing 174 runs.
Batting first, Peshawar Zalmi scored 173-7 in their allotted 20 overs, powered by a superb performance from Gusal Mendis, who scored 74 off 48 balls with 5 fours and 4 sixes.
Babar Azam scored 43 runs off 40 balls including 3 fours and a six, while Michael Bracewell scored a blistering 21 off 10 balls with a four and 2 sixes.
In reply, Zalmi captain Shaheen Afridi led the way with the ball, returning impressive figures of 3/22 from four overs. Mustafizur Rahman took 2 wickets and Ubaid Shah and Usama Mir took one wicket each.
Chasing 174, Callanders fell well short of 100 runs. Faqar Zaman and Abdullah Shafiq scored 21 runs each while Dunith Vellalake scored 20 runs.
Michael Bracewell and Subian Mukeem took three wickets each. Nahid Rana took 2 wickets while Shoriful Islam and Amir Jamal took one wicket each.
