Islamabad United head coach Luke Ronchi expressed his excitement ahead of the team’s upcoming matches in Karachi.
In a statement released across the franchise’s official social media channels, the former New Zealand wicketkeeper-batsman highlighted the vibrant atmosphere in the port city and the joy of returning to Pakistan, while also giving an update on the team’s preparations.
“We are happy to be in Karachi. It is a wonderful city and I am looking forward not only to the cricket but also to the food here,” Ronchi said.
The head coach ensured that the entire sports team reported for duty and outlined the team’s plans according to local conditions.
“All 20 of our players have arrived and we will start our preparations from tomorrow to get the conditions right. As always, I am thoroughly enjoying my time with Islamabad United in Pakistan,” he added.
The 44-year-old is no stranger to the franchise, having previously played for United in three Pakistan Super League (PSL) seasons.
He played 31 matches for the team, scoring 1,020 runs at an incredible strike rate of 166.12, including ten fifties.
It is noteworthy that the three-time champions India have started their campaign effectively in the ongoing 11th series.
The Shatab Khan-led team is currently third in the PSL standings with 11 points from 4 matches with two wins, one loss and one washout. They have accumulated five points and a net run rate of 1.055.
For the uninitiated, United will play their next match of the tournament against defending champions Lahore Qalandars at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi on April 9.
