LAHORE: Eight teams have finalized their squads after trades and outright signings for the much-anticipated Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11, scheduled to be held from March 26 to May 3.

The trade window opened by the league’s management for a week on March 12 ended on Wednesday and saw Multan Sultans involved in player transfers along with Quetta Gladiators, Islamabad United and Rawalpindis.

In the first trade, the 2021 champions brought in Ahmed Daniel and Jahanzeeb Sultan from the Gladiators before poaching Mohammad Wasim Jr from Islamabad United at the expense of Salman Mirza and Nisar Ahmed.

The franchise also made a player trade for cash as they sent emerging all-rounder Saad Masood to Rawalpindis for an additional cash consideration of Rs 500,000.

During the trade window, player trades were permitted to eight participating franchises per competition regulations and salary cap rules, primarily player for player trade, player for cash trade, and player and player for cash trade.

A player-for-player trade allows two franchises to swap players with each other boasting similar salary caps, while a player-for-money trade allows a player to be traded in exchange for an agreed-upon financial amount.

Meanwhile, on player-for-player and cash trades, owners can exchange players, with one of them receiving an agreed-upon financial amount as part of the trade.

During the window, teams strengthened their squads through direct signings and player transfers, with Sultans bringing in all-rounder Imran Randhawa, Peshawar Zalmi U19 captain Farhan Yousaf and Bangladesh’s Shoriful Islam.

Meanwhile, Lahore Qalandars and Rawalpindis brought in Shahab Khan and Jalat Khan as injury replacements respectively.

The historic 11th edition of the marquee league will see eight teams, including two newcomers Rawalpindis and Hyderabad Kingsmen, compete in 44 matches for the first time in the 39-day event.

According to the recently released schedule, each team will play a total of 10 matches and the top four will qualify for the playoffs, which include Qualifier 1, Eliminator, Qualifier 2, followed by the final on May 3 at the Gaddafi Stadium here.

Also, PCB has reserved a reserve day for the final on May 4.

PSL 11 will feature 12 double-headers, three of which will be played at Gaddafi Stadium.

With Karachi, Lahore, Multan, Peshawar and Rawalpindi hosting PSL matches for the first time in Faisalabad and Peshawar, the 11th edition will be played across six venues in Pakistan.
