KARACHI: Mohsin Riaz’s exceptional century led Sahir Associates to a brilliant run against defending champions Pakistan Television (PTV) at the Oval Academy on Tuesday.

Resuming their innings at 60/1 in 18 overs, Sahir Associates were eventually bowled out for 389 in 92.4 overs, with Riaz leading the charge. He scored a maximum of 157 runs off 162 balls including 22 fours and 4 sixes.

Asim Ali Naseer added 53 runs while Razaullah and Hafeez Mohammad Sulaiman added 33 and 26 runs respectively.

Amat Bhatt, Mohammad Ilyas Khan, Ali Usman, Faisal Akram and Arafat Minhas shared 2 wickets each for PTV side.

In reply, the defending champions lost 3 wickets and trailed by 103 runs at 19/3 in 8 overs at the end of day two. Mohammed Taha and Taimur Khan remained at the crease without getting out.

Khan Zeb claimed the prized wickets of opener Waqar Hussain (8) and Mohammad Suleman (0), while Razaullah dismissed skipper Shamil Hussain lbw for one run.

Earlier, PTV scored 267 runs in 60.3 overs after batting. Their middle-order trio of Mohammad Mohsin Khan, Arafat Minhas and Amat Butt stabilized the innings with notable contributions.

Mohsin top scored with 66 off 77 balls including 8 fours and 3 sixes while Minhas and Bhatt added 49 and 44 runs respectively.

Razaullah bowled well for Sahir Associates with 5 wickets for 73 runs in 22 overs. Khan Zeb took 3 wickets while Revayat Khan and captain Hafeez Mohammad Suleman took one each.

Ghani Class took control against Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) in a dominant display at the KCCA Stadium on Tuesday thanks to exceptional batting performances from Tayyab Tahir, Mohsin Riaz and Haseeb-ur-Rahman.

Resuming their innings at 45/2 off 18 overs, Ghani Glass ended the second day with a 154-run lead of 343-9. Tahir top-scored with 82 off 203 balls with 3 fours, while Mohsin scored a fluent 71 off 122 balls with 8 fours. Haseeb remained unbeaten on 76 off 133 balls, including 7 fours, and will resume the innings on day three.

Hamza Nasser led the KRL bowling, taking three wickets, supported by Mohammad Hamza with two wickets. Arshad Iqbal, Iftikhar Ahmed, Subian Mukeem and Saad Baig took one wicket each.

Earlier, KRL batted first but were bowled out for 189 in 61.1 overs despite Hamza Nasser’s impressive half-century. Hamza scored a blistering 71 off 80 balls with 10 fours, while Waqar Ahmed and Akib Shah added 35 and 30 respectively.

Ghani Glass’s bowling was led by Sameen Gul who produced a sensational six-wicket haul (6/42 in 18 overs), Ali Shabir bagged two wickets and Shoaib Akhtar Jr got a hat-trick.

Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) and Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) clashed on the second day of the tournament at the UBL Sports Complex, with both sides putting up strong performances with bat and ball.

After resuming their innings at 63 for 2 in 21 overs, OGDCL were eventually bundled out for 192 in 70.4 overs thanks to some excellent bowling by SNGPL’s Mohammad Ali and Sajid Khan.

Tailender Mushtaq Ahmed scored 40 off 62 balls including 2 fours and 3 sixes. Opener Imam-ul-Haq scored 39 runs off 73 balls and Mohammad Sarwar Afridi added 31 runs.

Sajid Khan and Mohammad Ali picked up 4 wickets each in the bowling, supported by Shehzad Gul and Amir Jamal with one wicket each.

In reply, SNGPL took a 92-run lead at the end of the second day at 102-6 in 36 overs. Mohammad Awais Zafar and Amir Jamal were at the crease, ready to continue the innings on day three.

Mohammad Amir Khan and Asif Afridi took three wickets each for OGDCL. As other batsmen struggled to make a significant contribution, Umair Bin Yousuf was the top scorer for SNGPL with a 65-ball 34.

On day one, SNGPL got off to a forgettable start, being bowled out for 182 in 66.2 overs after being sent out to bat.

All-rounder Mubasir Khan scored 52 runs off 102 balls with 4 fours and a six. Opener Azan Awais and Umair bin Yusuf scored 23 runs each, the next best contribution.

Asif Afridi bowled for OGDCL with 6 for 71 in 29 overs, while Mohammad Amir Khan and Danish Aziz claimed two wickets each.

In a thrilling encounter in this year’s President Trophy Grade-I final, WAPDA showed resilience by conceding a huge total against State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) in the last round at the SBP Sports Complex on Tuesday.

Batting first, SBB were all out for 394 in 83.1 overs. Middle order batsman Rameez Aziz scored 145 runs off 182 balls with 15 fours and 4 sixes. Opener Abdullah Fazal scored 72 runs and all-rounder Qasim Akram added 45 runs.

For WAPDA, Naqeebullah and Captain Khalid took 3 wickets each, Mujtaba Khan 2 wickets and Akif Javed and Mohammad Naveed 1 wicket each.

In reply, WAPDA posted 282-5 in 92 overs at the end of the second day, still trailing by 112 runs. Mohammad Ammar and Sharoon Siraj played crucial innings and scored half-centuries to keep WAPDA in the hunt. Ammar top scored with 77 off 158 balls including 11 fours while Siraj scored 52 off 127 balls.

Bismilla Khan (37*) and Khalid Usman (28*) remain unbeaten at stumps and will continue their innings on day three.

SPB’s bowling attack made major inroads into WAPDA’s line-up, with Kaship Bhatti claiming two wickets and Niaz Khan, Mohammad Ismail and Qasim Akram claiming one each.
