KARACHI: Shejad Gull’s superb bowling led Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) to a 48-run win over home team State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on the final day of the third round President Cup Grade-I match at 11/91.
Chasing the target of 224, the hosts continued their quest from 170/8 and could add five more runs to their overnight score, being bowled out for 175 in 47.1 overs.
Middle-order batsman Abdullah Fazal remained the top scorer with a brave 73-ball 41, followed by emerging all-rounder Qasim Akram’s 58-ball 37.
Shehzad, who picked up his first first-class five-wicket in the first innings, finished with a remarkable 11/91, conceding just 54 runs in his 16 overs with six wickets.
Shahnawaz Dahani took three wickets in the second innings with a scalp by Muhammad Ali.
Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) and Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) ended in a draw in the remaining third round match of the President Cup Grade-I held at the NBP Sports Complex here.
At the start of the final day, OGDCL resumed their second innings at 199/4 and were all out for 377 in 120.5 overs, aided by a century from Mohamed Sarwar Afridi, half-centuries from Danish Aziz and skipper Adil Amin.
Sarwar remained top scorer with 115 off 175 balls with nine fours and 3 sixes, while captain Adil and all-rounder Aziz scored 55 and 70 respectively.
Arshad Iqbal took 4 wickets, Ahmed Basheer 3 wickets and Mohammad Hamza 2 wickets for KRL side.
Chasing a tough target of 275 runs, KRL batted for 22 overs and ended the match at 82/2 at stumps.
Opener Shazaib Khan scored an unbeaten 45 and Mohammad Hussaifah and Muhammad Imran picked up a wicket each for OGDCL.
For non-qualifiers, the fourth round of the President Cup Grade-I will be held at four venues here from January 15 to 18.
