Tanzid Hasan Tamim of Bangladesh celebrates after scoring a century (100 runs) during the third One Day International (ODI) cricket match between Bangladesh and Pakistan at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on March 15, 2026.

KARACHI: Former champions Peshawar Zalmi on Sunday confirmed the signing of young Bangladesh opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim for the historic 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League from March 26 to May 3.

The owner’s team posted the announcement on their social media handle with the caption, “Bangladesh Firepower joins the squad. Welcome Tanjit Hasan Tamim to Zalmi for PSL 11.”

Tamim will join fellow Bangladesh fast bowlers Nahid Rana and Shoriful Islam who are already in the squad. Nahid was bought through the auction while Shoribul was signed outright a few days ago.

With Tamim’s inclusion, the total number of Bangladesh players in this season’s PSL has gone up to six.

Before the auction, Mustafizur Rahman confirmed a deal and later, Lahore Qalandars drafted Pervez Hossain Amon.

Nahid won his place through auction, while Rishadh Hossain, who played a key role in Lahore’s title win last season, was picked by the new Rawalpindis.

Shoriful joined following the Pakistan series and Tamim earned his place for a strong performance in the same series.

The 25-year-old Tamim has played 45 T20 Internationals for Bengal Tigers and has scored 1,120 runs at a strike rate of 128.00 including 11 fifties.

In 39 Bangladesh Premier League matches, he scored 1,236 runs at a strike rate of 137.33, including seven fifties and three centuries.

In the historic 11th PSL series, eight teams, including new entrants Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen and Rawalpindis, will play 44 matches over a 39-day period.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has significantly scaled back plans for the upcoming edition of the tournament, announcing that the matches will be played at two stadiums without spectators.

PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi confirmed the revised arrangements during a media conference, saying the decisions were taken following a joint meeting with the PSL owner and consultation with host Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Initially, six cities were named as potential hosts: Multan, Peshawar, Faisalabad, Karachi, Rawalpindi and Lahore. However, the tournaments have now been consolidated, with all the matches to be held in Karachi and Lahore.
