LAHORE: Following the implementation of austerity measures in consultation with the government, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Sunday released the revised schedule for the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

In a significant reshuffle, the number of host cities has been reduced from six to two, and all matches will now be played exclusively in Lahore and Karachi. This decision is consistent with officially announced national resource conservation initiatives.

As per the revised schedule, the tournament will have 44 matches played over 39 days, with each city hosting 22 matches. There is no change in the opening match between Hyderabad Kingsmen and Lahore Qalandars.

Lahore will host Eliminators 1 and 2 and the finals, while the qualifiers will be held in Karachi.

As the tournament temporarily adopts a home viewing model, the organizers have confirmed the introduction of enhanced broadcast and production features designed to provide a better viewing experience for fans in Pakistan and around the world.

League officials are confident that the combination of audience enthusiasm and innovative coverage will make it one of the most watched editions to date.

Noting the absence of in-person spectators, a report acknowledged that crowds in stadiums will be sorely missed.

It was estimated that an average of 30,000 visitors and supporting staff traveling daily for more than a month would place a significant strain on energy resources.

By limiting the tournament to two cities, the league said it would significantly reduce the elaborate operational arrangements, transportation logistics and utility overheads associated with six-city events.

The organizers reaffirmed their commitment to deliver high-quality cricket in line with national priorities, saying the league would continue with the unity, discipline and excellence that have been established as defining symbols of Pakistan’s sporting prowess.
