Former Australian cricketer David Warner has been charged with drink-driving in Sydney.

The former Test opener was said to be batting 0.104 following a breathalyzer test in the eastern suburbs of Maroubra on Sunday evening.

According to a report provided to news.com.au, New South Wales Police stopped the 39-year-old’s van shortly before it reached a random breathalyzer test site.

Officers later approached the vehicle and subjected him to a roadside test, which yielded a positive result.

Warner was arrested and taken to Maroubra Police Station where a second test produced a reading of 0.104. The legal limit for a fully licensed driver in New South Wales is 0.05.

In a statement, NSW Police said: “Today (Sunday 5 April 2026) at 5:30pm, police carried out a standard random breath test in Malabar Road, Maroubra. It was reported that a van had stopped near the test site and park.

“Officers attached to the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command approached the vehicle and subjected the driver – a 39-year-old man – to a roadside test which yielded a positive result.

“He was arrested and taken to Maroubra Police Station where a second test reportedly returned a reading of 0.104.

“This man has been issued with a Field Court Attendance Notice for driving with a medium BCA (recommended concentration of alcohol) to appear at Downing Center Local Court on Thursday 7 May 2026.”

For the uninitiated, Warner, who currently captains Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), is scheduled to arrive in Karachi on April 9 for the second leg of the 11th edition of the tournament.
