
KARACHI: 2021 champions Multan Sultan on Tuesday announced the signing of emerging national all-rounder Muhammad Shahzad for the historic 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) scheduled to be held from March 26 to May 3.
The team was renamed from Sialkot Stallions to Multan Sultans after Gohar Shah’s CD Ventures bought it for Rs 200 million last week. Last month’s rookie draft.
“Multan Sultans are proud to announce the signing of dynamic all-rounder Muhammad Shahzad ahead of the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) season,” a Sultans statement said.
“Having hailed from Dera Ghazi Khan (DG Khan), Shahjad’s addition to the team reinforces the franchise’s deep commitment to identify, nurture and showcase the immense cricketing talent in South Punjab.
“A highly promising prospect capable of changing the momentum of the game with both bat and ball, Shahzad brings a fierce hometown pride to the Multan Sultans dressing room. His journey from DG Khan to the country’s premier T20 league is a testament to his hard work and the region’s rich game.”
Shahjad, who hails from Dera Ghazi Khan, said it was his lifelong dream to represent south Punjab on the biggest stage and was “honoured” to sign for Sultans before promising to give his best for the former champions and their fans.
“Having hailed from South Punjab and grew up in DG Khan, it was my dream to represent the region on the biggest stage. It is an absolute honor for me to be selected by Multan Sultans. I am ready to give my all for the team and the fans who share my roots.”
Sultans, who won the prestigious title in 2021 under the leadership of national wicketkeeper batsman Mohammad Rizwan, will open their PSL 11 campaign in Lahore on March 28 against three-time champions Islamabad United.
