KARACHI: England batsman James Vince will join Peshawar Zalmi’s squad for the remaining Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 on Monday, owner Javed Afridi announced on Sunday.
Afridi posted the announcement on his official X handle, “Big welcome to James Vince as he joins the Zalmi team tomorrow!”
Vince was picked up by the 2017 champions for Rs 30 million in the historic player auction in February, but the 35-year-old missed Zalmi’s first five matches, raising doubts over his availability in the ongoing eight-team tournament.
The addition of the right-handed batsman will be a big boost for Zalmi, who topped the PSL 11 table with nine points from five matches and will face second-placed Multan Sultans at the National Bank Stadium here on Monday.
Representing three teams – Karachi Kings, Quetta Gladiators and Multan Sultans – in eight editions, Vince has been one of the marquee league’s regular overseas players.
The right-handed batsman is one of the top 10 run-scorers in league history with 1544 runs in 56 innings at an average of 29.69 and a strike rate of 139.35 with a century and 7 fifties.
Peshawar Zalmi Squad for PSL 11: Babar Azam (c), Sufyan Mukeem, Abdul Samad, Ali Raza, Aaron Hardy, Ameer Jamal, Khurram Shahzad, Mohammad Haris, Khalid Usman, Abdul Subhan, Tanzid Hasan, Michael Bracewell, Gusal Mendis, Iftikhar Ahmed, Nahid Ahmed, Nahid Ahmed, Yusuf, Brian Bennett, Mohammed Basit, James Vince and Shoriful Islam.
