Mirpur: Pakistan’s promising youngster Shamil Hussain has been ruled out of the third and final ODI against Bangladesh at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Sunday.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) issued a statement saying that the 21-year-old is suffering from neck strain. He is currently being treated and monitored by the team’s medical staff.

Shamil made his international debut in the first ODI against Bangladesh but struggled to make an impact in the series, scoring just four runs in the opener and six in the second.

During the second ODI, all-rounder Hussain Dalat was involved in a worrisome collision while fielding. The 30-year-old suffered a shoulder injury and was taken to hospital for further evaluation.

The incident occurred in the second ball of the sixth over of the Bangladesh innings. Dalat, fielding at cover, raced to cut Liton Das’s back-leg punch off Mohammad Wasim Jr’s delivery.

In an attempt to prevent the ball from reaching the boundary, he crashed hard into the billboards.

Dalat was left in discomfort and was subsequently removed from the match, receiving immediate on-field medical attention. Giving an update on his condition, the PCB confirmed that he has been taken to a local hospital for a thorough evaluation.

“Hussain Dalat injured his shoulder while fielding during the second ODI against Bangladesh,” PCB said in a statement.

“He received immediate medical attention from the team’s medical staff on the ground. Following the initial assessment, he was taken to the hospital for a comprehensive examination. The nature and extent of the injury will be determined after the doctors complete the medical assessment.”

In Shamil’s absence, young wicketkeeper-batsman Ghazi Ghori made his international debut, while Saad Masood replaced Thalat.
