LAHORE: Karachi Kings fast bowler Hasan Ali has been fined 10 per cent of his match fee for a Level 1 breach of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel.

The fast bowler pleaded guilty and accepted the sanction.

Hasan was found to have breached Article 2.5, which “uses language, actions or gestures that insult or provoke an offensive reaction during a match during a match”.

The incident took place in the last ball of the 19th over of the Lahore Qalandars innings when Hasan Hasibullah Khan was dismissed.

Despite an indiscipline setback, Karachi Kings produced a decent all-round display to claim a four-wicket victory over defending champions Lahore Qalandars in the sixth match of the Pakistan Super League 11 at the Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday.

Chasing a modest target of 129 runs on a challenging surface, Karachi reached the score with six wickets to spare with three balls to spare.

However, their pursuit began on a shaky note as captain David Warner (8) and Salman Ali Agha (0) fell early in the third over, both dismissed for 10 by Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Following the early collapse, Muhammad Wasim steadied the innings with a brilliant performance. He put together crucial partnerships with Saad Baig (19) and Moeen Ali to lead the chase under pressure.

Wasim’s 38 off 37 balls, with three fours and a six, laid the foundation before being dismissed by Shaheen in the 15th over. Moeen (18) also departed in the same over as Karachi reeled at 88/5.

The momentum shifted again as Khushtil Shah and Azam Khan put on 32 runs for the sixth wicket to reduce the equation to 14 runs in the final over.

The match took a dramatic turn when the Lahore umpires penalized them for ball tampering, giving Karachi five runs and reducing the target to nine.

In the last over, Harris Raub dismissed Kushtil (13) off the first ball, but Abbas Afridi responded decisively. Abbas hit a four and a six off his first two balls to give Karachi a thrilling win.

Earlier, batting first, Lahore’s result was restricted to 128/9.

Contributions from Abdullah Shafiq (33), Haseebullah (28) and Sikandar Raza (19) failed to provide consistent pace. Karachi’s bowlers, Adam Jamba, Mir Hamza and Moeen, shared the wickets effectively and kept the total short.
