
Peshawar: Pakistan opener Faqar Zaman has been declared fit and will play in the National T20 Cup from today, sources have confirmed. Jio News Monday.
The left-handed batsman has joined the Abbottabad regional squad and is set to lead the side in their crucial match. Zaman is expected to open the innings as he completes his rehabilitation from a hamstring injury.
The Pakistan internationals will now report to their respective regional teams for the knockout stage of the tournament, the sources added.
Zaman played a limited role in the recently concluded ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, playing only two matches for Pakistan.
After missing the group-stage matches, he returned with an unbeaten 25 in the Super Eight clash against England, followed by a must-win 84 against Sri Lanka.
In related developments, two scheduled matches were abandoned due to persistent rain on Sunday, with Lahore Whites and Karachi Whites confirmed as the top two teams to secure semi-final berths in the National T20 Cup.
The high-profile Group A encounter between Lahore and Karachi Whites was halted without a toss due to rain at the Imran Khan Cricket Stadium in Peshawar.
Both the teams took one point each and advanced to the knockout stage.
Karachi Whites topped Group A with six points from four matches, two wins and boasting a net run rate of 1.457.
Lahore Whites followed with five points, two wins, one loss and a dropped fixture, with a net run rate of 0.674.
The second match of the day between Bahawalpur and Peshawar met a similar fate, ending without a ball being bowled. Both teams finished the group stage with one win each.
With Group A now settled, attention turns to Monday’s final round of Group B matches. Abbottabad Zone will face Lahore Region Blues in the first match of the double-header, followed by Sialkot and Multan.
Joining Lahore Whites and Karachi Whites in the last four, the winners will qualify for the remaining two semi-finals.
Both semi-finals are scheduled to be played at the same Peshawar ground on Tuesday.
