Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman may be ruled out of the three-match ODI series against the Bangladesh national cricket team due to a hamstring injury that has cast doubt on his availability for the tour scheduled from March 11 to 15.

According to reports, the left-handed batsman is currently rehabbing after the injury, which is expected to keep him out of Pakistan’s tour of Bangladesh.

The Pakistan National Cricket Team is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka on March 9 and the three ODIs will be played at the Shere Bangla National Stadium on March 11, 13 and 15.

The 34-year-old endured a limited role during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, featuring in just two matches for Pakistan.

He missed the group-stage matches against the Netherlands, USA, India and Namibia before returning for the Super Eight clash against England and Sri Lanka.

Against England, he scored 25 runs, while in a crucial encounter against Sri Lanka he scored a brilliant 84 off 42 balls with 9 fours and 4 sixes.

Meanwhile, the tour of Bangladesh is under uncertainty amid ongoing regional tensions. Insiders say the series will only continue if the current situation does not increase travel risks or safety concerns.

Discussions on Pakistan’s squad are expected to begin this weekend as the former world champions turn their attention to the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027, co-hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.

Sources indicate that the selection committee is considering significant changes as senior members like Babar Azam, Saim Ayub and Mohammad Nawaz are given a chance to replace emerging players.

As Pakistan have no immediate T20I commitments, no immediate change is expected in the short-form squad.

However, sources added that five to six players from the T20 World Cup 2026 squad could be phased out as part of a long-term rebuilding strategy.

Pakistan last played an ODI series in November last year when they hosted Sri Lanka and won 3-0.

The series marked captain Shaheen Shah Afridi’s second ODI assignment, his first in charge coming in the home series against South Africa, which Pakistan won 2–1.
