LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has extended the deadline for submission of bids for two new Pakistan Super League (PSL) teams for the second time, sources told Geo Super on Saturday.

The deadline, which was already set for December 22, has been extended to December 24 due to two bank holidays and requests from prospective bidders, sources said.

For the uninitiated, the bidding for the two new PSL teams will take place on January 8, which has been delayed by a day due to a one-week extension in the bid submission agreement that was initially announced on December 15.

Notably, the first extension in the bid submission deadline came due to “growing interest” from Europe, the United States (US) and the Middle East.

“Seeing the growing interest in acquiring new HBL PSL teams from Europe, America, Middle East and beyond, we have decided to extend the bid submission deadline by one week to 22 December 2025,” Naqvi had announced in a post on X on Twitter.

“Best of luck to everyone who is excited to welcome our new owners to the HBL PSL family.”

The development comes on the back of a successful roadshow at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London, where the marquee league received “unprecedented attention”, with a large number of investors attending the event and expressing their interest in buying the two new PSL franchises for sale.

Notably, the PSL, which started with five franchises in 2016 and later expanded to six sides in 2018, has further expanded with the addition of two new teams from its upcoming 11th edition to be played next year.

With the upcoming additions, PSL will undergo its first major overhaul in seven years, bringing the total number of franchises to eight.
